Tenerife

Well, I've been some days in this pretty island, and I'd like to share this hot picture I took.

What you can see on it's the volcano Teide. All insight is old magma that long time ago reached the surface, but it's specially interesting to notice the most recent magma, and how it's still possible to observe the lava shape, that is lava that solidified while sliding down the volcano cone. That's nature power.

The lava in black is newer than the red one. That's because the iron of the old lava has been long time oxidized, and so, its colour has turned red, as rusty iron.

Teide elevation is 3717 metres, and most of clouds are always above 2000 metres, that is the elevation of the place where the picture was taken. The consequence is this blue blue sky.

Just let me add this image of GE (Google Earth), that shows the little valley in perspective. It also allows us to observe all lava is not from the main chimney of Teide, as it has secundary chimneys from which magma can flow too.
